Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ - Matt. 25:37-40
Jesus’ answer is interesting. He doesn’t tell us to help people for his sake. He doesn’t say, “Do it for me!” He says that when we help, we are doing it to him. I’ve never quite understood those words, but I’ve always been enchanted by them. Clearly, our generosity is more than just a calling or a requirement. Generosity is a part of our deep love and devotion to Christ.
As such, we’re committed to helping the people in Japan through our generosity. We’ll be collecting donations for MTW (Mission to the World) who already has missionaries in Japan. Those missionaries have the support structure to be able to provide for the needs of the Japanese people.
If you’d like to see how MTW is using their resources, go here, http://www.vimeo.com/m/#/21221181.
