Doctrinal Position
See the Book of Church Order (BCO [http://www.pcanet.org/BCO/]) for a full statement of our church’s doctrinal position.
Below is a summary of some of our basic convictions:
- We believe that the Bible, which is contained in the Old and New Testament, and which is the only, perfect, and authoritative rule of faith and obedience, teaches what we are to believe concerning God and what God requires from all people.
- We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost God—and that these three are one, true, and eternal God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory, although each is unique according to his personal properties.
- We believe that Humankind was created guiltless and free, but fell into an estate of sin and misery by sinning against God, bringing all of its posterity under the wrath of God and liable to all miseries in this life, to death, and to the pains of hell forever.
- We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God who is of the same substance and equal with God the Father, became a man at the appointed time Concerning Jesus to serve as the only Mediator of God’s grace and continues to exist as fully God and fully man in one person.
- We believe that we may escape God’s wrath and His just condemnation by repenting and believing in Jesus Christ alone, who lived the perfect life that we could never life and died the death that we should have died, so that through His life, death and resurrection we would be reconciled, by grace, to God.
- We believe that the church, which is composed of all who profess faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior and their children, is under God’s special care, protection and government and the ordinary means through which salvation is offered to all.
- We believe that at the last day there will be a general resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust, when the bodies of the former—on account of the resurrection of Jesus Christ—will be raised to glory to glory, while the bodies of the latte will also be raised up in dishonor.
Core Values
Our core values, founded upon doctrinal position, are the impetus behind everything we do. Below are brief statements of our core values and messages (click on the bolded letters) that provide more detail:
- At our church of our size community/small groups are especially important because they provide opportunities for our people to develop meaningful relationships.
- We believe that Christians not only believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; they also belong to His body, which is the church. Thus, membership is highly encouraged.
- While all believers begin as spiritual infants, they are called to “work out their salvation.” Providing avenues for growing, therefore, is a central concern for the leadership.
- Every Christian has been uniquely and wonderful made by God to serve Him in specific ways. Serving, then, is expected of all members to help them discover themselves and to advance the Kingdom.
- Missions is not confined to a particular committee or group at CCPC. It is, rather, a fundamental part of every believer’s vocation. At our church, missions is expressed in acts of mercy (mercy ministry), satelliting, church planting, and oversea wholistic evangelism.
- The gospel is at the center of everything we teach, preach and do.
